What is sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry allows your doctor to provide a variety of dental treatments safely and comfortably for patients who experience anxiety when visiting the dentist.
We offer in-house nitrous oxide analgesia (laughing gas) for our patients who experience mild to moderate anxiety about dental appointments. Nitrous oxide gas is a safe, odorless gas that is delivered via nasal hood, also known as "candy-air". We have several flavors including bubblegum and strawberry! Laughing gas will not put your child to sleep, and the effects will wear off about five minutes after the appointment.
In-office, IV sedation with an anesthesiologist is also available for very nervous patients.
Dr. Wilson also holds privileges at CHOC Children's Hospital and LaVeta Surgery Center to care for those patients who require care in a hospital setting.
Patients who may benefit from sedation dentistry have:
- A fear or anxiety of being at the dentist
- A hard time sitting still for long periods of time
- A hard time getting (and staying) numb from anesthetics
Please contact our practice to schedule a consultation, to learn more about sedation dentistry, and find out which method may be right for you.
